Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the apparel buying and selection process along with inventory management and assisting members and guests with retail selections and special orders.  The ideal candidate will have experience in resort buying and retail operations and accustomed to working in highly collaborative and communicative team environment.


  • Assist GM of Hospitality with the overall buying process while ensuring selected items are in keeping with the quality and approach members and invited guests have come to expect
  • Maintain product/brand knowledge and keep current on trends, themes and styles  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and monitor purchase orders
  • Track, organize and maintain inventory levels to limit out of stock situations
  • Track and maintain data on member preferences for special orders and future purchases
  • Ensure the golf shop is maintained in a neat and orderly manner; stock shelves, counters and tables with merchandise in a visually pleasing manner to promote sales
  • Maintain proper and accurate record of daily sales, and communicate status of merchandise re-order/special requests to GM and members as applicable
  • Follow opening and closing duties specifically as outlined, and ensure golf shop is in “ready” mode for next business day
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

 Bachelor’s degree in Buying, Fashion Merchandising or Business Administration and/or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years buying experience in a luxury/high end retail/resort environment
  • Point-of-Sale system knowledge highly desirable
  • Golf industry experience preferred


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and desire to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Ensure all policies, practices, checklists, SOPs and manuals are consistently followed

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, specifically Outlook and Excel, along with strong math skills


  • Able to lift up-to 25lbs
  • Flexible approach, based on business demand, and able to work varying hours, weekends and holidays as needed

 Working Conditions

  • This position will be exposed to various working conditions commonly found in a golf club environment. Must be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, crouch, frequently and for long periods of time.
