Job Description

This position assists our Head Golf Professional in managing the Club’s overall golf operations.  Primary duties include partnering with the Fitting and Teaching teams to provide an exceptional learning experience for our private members and invited guests, organizing and delivering a world-class annual tournament program, and merchandising the golf shop to provide visual interest while showcasing our unique apparel selection.  This position plays a key role in assisting the Outside Service staff in delivering superior service and ensuring seamless communications between the teams.  The ideal candidate gravitates towards providing 5-star service to our membership and support to our internal teams, demonstrates a “can-do” approach, and thrives in fast-paced, ever-changing and highly collaborative team environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional service and hospitality our members and their invited guests; addresses individuals by name and exceeds member satisfaction with each and every interaction
  • In partnership with the Golf Operations staff, successfully organizes Club tournaments and events, overseeing the details from start to finish, and ensures seamless execution
  • On a weekly basis, plays golf with various groups of members, develops a deep understanding of the Club’s field operations (for example starting operations, managing players in conjunction with pace of play, etc.,)
  • Develop strong knowledge base as it relates to the Rules of Golf, including local rules in the event of player questions, and application of the USGA GHIN HANDICAP System
  • Develop a strong knowledge base of the operational functions within the Club’s golf shop operations
  • including accounting procedures, POS system (JONAS SYSTEMS), inventory control (physical monthly count to weekly restocking of inventory) and opening and closing functions; oversee special orders, merchandise check-in and pricing, inventory level maintenance, returns and answering member and guest questions as needed
  • Develop strong knowledge base of Outside Operations and corresponding duties
  • Maintain golf playing abilities that are commonly held by PGA Professionals
  • Potential for caddying opportunities (but not guaranteed)
  • Complete ad-hoc and reoccurring duties as requested

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Level 1 PGA or higher
  • Previous private member/club experience strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a golf club operation setting preferred (i.e., POS familiarity/experience)
